What is Direct Deposit?

Direct deposit is a free service that allows your regular or recurring payments (i.e. payroll) to be electronically deposited automatically into your checking or savings account at The Provident Bank.

Why Direct Deposit?

Direct deposit is great for anyone making regular deposit via check for payroll, social security, pension, dividends, or other recurring payments.


Benefits of Direct Deposit?
  • it's free, there is no cost to you!
  • it's safe, never worry about your checks being lost or stolen in the mail!
  • it's convenient - your money is automatically deposited at the same frequency. Once the initial set-up is complete, there is nothing else you need to do!
  • it's accessible - your money is available to you the same day it is deposited - even if you are out of town. No more waiting on the teller lines to access your money!


What is the Enrollment Process for Direct Deposit?

Payroll or other recurring checks:

  • Step 1: Complete and print our Direct Deposit Enrollment Form. (Click here to get the application)
  • Step 2: Attach a voided check.
  • Step 3: Verify that Direct deposit is available with your employer, if applicable, and submit the form to the appropriate payroll or human resources department for processing.

Government Payments (including Social Security):

  • Online: Complete the government checks direct deposit form online.
  • By Phone: To establish your government check direct deposit by phone, contact:
                • Go Direct at 1-800-333-1795 (English) or 1-800-999-1792 (Spanish)
                • The Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213
  • By Mail (for U.S. Citizens): Complete the government Sign-Up Form for Direct Deposit of Federal Benefit Payments and bring your completed form to a local Provident Bank branch near you for processing.
